I. Translation Aen. I:81-91. Unpack those ablatives absolutes; discussion of how Vergil stretches the word-order and why? Is he just trying to make you nuts? Why did Octavia swoon when she listened to Vergil reading the fourth book aloud?
II. Exegesis & Analysis: ablatives absolute (literal and figurative renderings); similes with velut, sicut or just good old ut; how a simile is different from a metaphor; metonymy (dies for daylight); enjambment; personification.
III. Is Vergil musical? How is Vergil musical? Why does that matter? "Spirit of Radio," Rush (lyrics N. Peart).
